First and foremost, I want to let you know that couponing to maximize your savings is a process. It takes time and patience to learn how to coupon effectively and efficiently. I really got into couponing after my second child was born in 2008. Prior to that, the only coupons I really used were the ones that came on the actual product I was buying, or coupons that came in the "junk" mail, or from coupon inserts I found laying around at coffee shops or waiting rooms, etc. I found that over time I was starting to clip more and more coupons, but oftentimes I would forget to use them.
So, after my second was born and being hit with the realization that I suddenly had two in diapers, the first thing I wanted to know was how to save more money on diapers. At $20 a box, it was pretty ridiculous how much we were spending on diapers in any given month.
I googled "how to coupon" and landed on about.com's basic coupon guide. One article lead to another and soon enough I was hooked. I couldn't believe how many money saving websites were out there -- it took me quite a while to read through several of them. I eventually became overwhelmed with trying to keep up with all the different websites and it was taking too much time out of my day, so that's when I stopped reading them all and decided to sign up for just TWO blogs to follow.
One of them is Pocket Your Dollars because the person who heads that blog is local and covers deals to be had in the Twin Cities, and the other one is Money Saving Mom because I really enjoy the variety of money saving topics she covers plus she has additional posts that I felt I could benefit from such as recipes for freezer cooking, activities to do with the kids, Christian based inspirational posts, etc.
I thank Google for leading me to these wonderful ladies websites and give them a lot of credit for my knowledge about couponing effectively & efficiently today!
